Midnight Rain

And just like that, 2014 has gone! It was a tough year in many ways but while it certainly had it’s ups, I’d like to put my request in for a gentle year please! Once, a very long time ago, before I was married and had kids, a wise friend told me that every hour after midnight on New Year’s eve is a forecast of what your year ahead will be like. I imagine for many a youth, that would have meant absolute chaos from around August to December! But lucky for me, I was reaching for the bedside lamp by 12:30!

New Year’s eve was also the night when the rain finally came. After a long and dry Winter, the skies opened up and it poured, washing everything clean for 2015. Sleeping under a corrugated iron roof, I fell asleep to the sound of rain. And in the morning, the lake looked different.

Wishing you all a GOOD 2015 🙂 And if possible, a little more peace for the world!

Keep close

“Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but to pour them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together knowing that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with a breath of kindness blow the rest away.”

– Dinah Maria Mulock Craik

Washing day

“Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing.” – Arundhati Roy

New years swim

no less as than a termination.” – Andre Gide

  1. Beautiful photos, I really like them. Please write more about the life in Malawi.I am planning to go to Mozambique and Malawi.

    • Absolutely Alessandro, I get very excited when a big black cloud comes over! We have huge flooding happening here, in fact it hasn’t stopped raining since New Year. I’m sure to catch some big action on camera soon, as there is no sign that this rain is stopping! I just have to get out of my drive way though, without getting stuck! Happy New Year to you too 🙂
